New Plan! YEA!

Hey friends! I hope everyone is having a great summer. It is flying by here, but not without some fun. I am so excited about a new workout plan. I have always admired runners. It's just something about how they make it look easy, how they look free. I looked up the couch to 5 K plan and decided to take on running. I have never ran in my life! What's even better? My husband, Michael is joining me. I'm so excited about this! We are in week two and he has already lost 5 pounds and I am noticing more leg muscles popping up. ;O)

I will not use the kids as an excuse of not exercising any longer. We go on a dirt road by our home. The boys ride there bikes up ahead of us while we do walk/jog. I love doing something healthy as a family. Oh, and I'm doing it...I'm jogging! We are on day 2 of week 2, and I'm really enjoying the challenge.

I always feel so much better when I'm exercising! Why do I ever stop? I want exercising to become a habit. One that I just do like make my bed without thinking about it. I do not buy into the 21 days and it will become a habit. I've tried working out for three weeks in a row, and it is not a habit. Exercising and using the bodies that God gave us is a choice. I'm choosing to make it a priority in my life. I am so thankful that I CAN exercise.

The 4th of July weekend we took our annual camping trip. Sunday was the day to do our day 3 of week 1 which consists of jogging for 60 seconds, brisk walking for 60 seconds. It changes each week. Even on a holiday...we did it. It would have been easy to make excuses, but we planned ahead and made it happen. It feels great. This program also is only 3 days a week with resting days in between. At first, my perfectionism started talking and telling myself that is not enough. However, I am all about baby steps. I would much rather exercise for 3 days a week than to give up for 3 months because I don't meet my standards of what I should be doing.

A post run picture after I cooled down.

  1. YAYAYAYASYAYAYAYAYAYAAYAYAYAYAYAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAYYYYYYYYYAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! Can you tell how excited I am for you?!! I haven't checked up on your blog for a while, and now I'm glad that I waited until today. Especially with this exciting post following the last two. It's such a great contrast!

"Consistency" is always my problem too. Consistency and patience. I started a new program almost 2 weeks ago, and it's depressing not to see results right away... but I know that in the end, the move to this new program WILL make a difference. I just have to stick with it, persevere... hehehe kind of reminds me of my Christian walk in so many ways!

Just a few things: TOTALLY agree with the habit/choice comment. I've been a gym member for 5 months and it is a hard choice every single day to get my butt to the gym. It does not become easier, and in fact takes more dedication as time goes on... especially when the results are not great. But do you know what?!! You said it perfectly: I would much rather exercise for 3 days a week than to give up for 3 months because I don't meet my standards of what I should be doing. Promise me that in 5 months you will not forget this! It is all worth it! Even if the only result you see is more family time and fun time with the kids. It's worth it :)

Anyway, I am so proud of you for making this choice, and so happy that your husband is doing it with you!!! That is amazing!
